On Monday that is the 11th of July 2022, the prime minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a big newly minted national emblem atop the new under construction Parliament building.

The bronze made emblem is 6.6 meters in height or roughly 21.4 feet. It weighs around 9,500 kg and has been cast at the topmost portion of the central foyer in  the new Parliament building.

This new parliament building is expected to be ready the winter session of both the Houses later this year.

Started in January 2021 with an estimated cost of Rs 971 crore, the project is supposed to be completed in time for the winter session of Parliament.

As and when the next delimitation exercise is undertaken for the parliamentary constituencies, the new building is expected to accommodate up to 888 members in the Lok Sabha, 384 in Rajya Sabha and up to 1,272 seats for a joint session.
