Following his father’s footsteps, Tamil Nadu CM, M K Stalin visited Army’s most prestigious institution, the Defence Services Staff College (DSSC) located at Wellington in the Nilgiri Hills on Friday the 20th of May, 2022.

The last visit of any chief minister of Tamil Nadu to this prestigious institution was way back in 1973 by Stalin’s father M. Karunanidhi.

On Friday when Stalin visited the Wellington Staff College, as DSSC is popularly known as, he was given the traditional Guard of Honour led by college commandant, Lt Gen S Mohan.

This is also India’s oldest and premier tri-services training institution.

On any given day about 500 middle level officers of the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force undergo elite and exclusive training at the Wellington College.

Stalin was also informed that about 50 foreign defence service officers belonging to friendly countries to India are also enrolled for training.

It is a matter of great achievement for any defence forces officer to be selected and nominated for mid-carrier course at the Wellington Staff College. A course completed at the DSSC is a feather in the cap for any service officer that often reshapes his or her carrier.

In his observations, M K Stalin appreciated the significant contribution of the DSSC as a world renowned centre of excellence for professional military education.

Stalin, who is on a two-day official visit to the Nilgiris district assured that his state will always be proactive and forthcoming to provide any possible assistance to help the DSSC to scale greater heights.
