What a place and stage to launch the official trailer with world spotlight firmly on it and unveiled at the Cannes film festival  – the trailer being that of ‘Mujib’.

Late on Thursday on 19th of May 2022, the trailer was official launched and released general public in the presence of I & B Minister Anurag Singh Thakur and his Bangladeshi counterpart Hasan Mahmud at the India Pavilion.

It was indeed a rare display of India-Bangladesh friendship joining hands at the ongoing Cannes film festival to unveil a joint cinematic project on the life of Bangladesh’s Father of the Nation, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

‘Mujib: The Making of the Nation’ directed by celebrated filmmaker Shyam Benegal is the first film to be made under a co-production agreement signed between the two nations.

‘Mujib’ is joint production by the National Film Development Corporation and Bangladesh Film Development Corporation.

Shot in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic in the last two years, ‘Mujib’ is a major international co-production aimed at the global market and the vast Indian and Bangladeshi diaspora.

Famous Bangladeshi actor Arifin Shuvoo plays lead role as Mujibur Rahman.

The current Bangladesh PM, Sheikh Hasina is the daughter of Mujibur Rahman.
